Today in class we finished up on learning about the five tenets of Transcendentalism. In addition to the two
tenets we learned yesterday: nonconformity and self-reliance, we also learned of the remaining three tenets of free thought, confidence, and the importance of nature. We also dived deeper into the biographies of transcendentalists Henry David Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson

H.D. Thoreau Ralph Waldo Emerson
Five Tenets of Transcendentalism
- Nonconformity
- Self-reliance
- Free thought
- Confidence
- Importance of Nature
Rivers made the point that all of the tenets are interconnected and strengthen each other. With free thought you can rely on yourself more, with self-reliance you don't have to conform, and so on.
